AMD, Microsoft, and Nvidia are getting cosy at GDC 2024 to tell us all about the new DirectSR upscaler-
PC gaming’s (un)holy trinity of hardware and software vendors will be taking the stage at this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) to provide more details on what’s new in the world of graphics. Work graphics, a DirectX 12 feature that first appeared in beta form last year, will take the lion’s share of the presentation but alongside it will be a preview of DirectSR: Microsoft’s new system for implementing upscaling on devices running Windows.

‘A huge mistake’- Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber rails against Halo TV show sex scene, says he ‘wasn’t listened to’ when he argued against it-
In 1895, our forefathers watched a train arrive at La Ciotat station. In 1969, families gathered to watch mankind take its first tentative steps beyond the surface of our planet. In 2022, Master Chief had sex.
It was the television event of the century, but it turns out not everyone was on board. In a recent chat with SFX magazine (via GamesRadar), Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber revealed that he was adamantly against John-117’s hook-up with Covenant spy Makee. I mean really adamant. He’s not mincing words here, telling SFX that making John and Makee an item in the show’s first season was “a huge mistake.”
Schreiber makes it sound like he really dug his heels in, too, but to no avail. “I argued against it and fought against it,” he said, “But I am who I am. I don…
As warriors age, so must the battlefield- 1vs1 me on LinkedIn, coward
LinkedIn, the email spam service associated with a B2B social network, has made its move into gaming. Not with a LinkedIn-branded golf putting kit, which surely would’ve nailed the target audience: LinkedIn has started with three simple browser games that can be played daily and, here’s the kicker, track and share stats across networks. Yes, it’s looking to start some friendly rivalries in the executive seats.
The games are available on both desktop and mobile, and are called Crossclimb, Pinpoint, and Queens (thanks, The Verge). The major influences are Wordle and Sudoku. Crossclimb sees players first guess a word from a clue, then create “ladders” of words from that base by changing letters at a time. You then order these five words so only one letter is changing at a ti…
RTX 40-series gaming PCs like these ones are getting cheap enough that they might actually be worthy of the name ‘budget’
‘Tis soon the season to be brimming with the spirit of unbridled capitalism and snaffling up copious holiday tech deals, including those for budget gaming PCs. Manufacturers and vendors certainly seem to be prepping themselves for Black Friday, because there are already some pretty spectacular deals popping up, such as these two.
RTX 40-series gaming PCs in particular seem to be feeling jolly and generous in their pricing. Whatever the reason for that, I’m here for it, because it’s giving us some pretty stellar options in the sub-$1,000 bracket.
If you’re pushing close to $1,000 you can get a solid all-rounder with the Thermaltake LCGS View i460T V2 with RTX 4060 Ti for $1,000 at Best Buy (save $300), or if you want something super-cheap there’s the AVGPC Max with RTX 4060…
